Caravan by the coast: Starlink for internet on holiday

Get your motorhome ready for Starlink

  1. Choose your internet kit. Decide which antenna, dimensions and WiFi setup suit your needs.
  2. Plan your power supply. Use the appropriate mains power supply on 230 V. For your leisure battery, choose a suitable 12/24V solution for your Starlink model.
  3. Choose how to mount it. Portable positioning gives you flexibility around shade and trees. For roof mounting, choose a suitable holder, cable route and roof entry.
  4. Activate your subscription. Subscribe to a suitable plan directly with Starlink and check your destinations and the terms of use.

What is Starlink?

Starlink is SpaceX's satellite internet network. The antenna communicates with satellites in low Earth orbit. Your internet connection therefore does not depend on campsite WiFi or a local mobile mast. You still need power, a suitable location and an active service.

Practical tips for better internet on holiday

  • A clear view of the sky matters. Trees, buildings and mountainsides can interrupt the connection. Check your location with the Starlink app.
  • Allow for power consumption. Choose a suitable power supply and take your leisure battery capacity into account.
  • Manage your data use. High-resolution video and large updates use a lot of data. Adjust streaming quality and automatic updates when travelling with a limited data allowance.
  • Check compatibility. Mini and Standard use different holders and power solutions. An accessory on its own does not provide an internet connection.
Does Starlink work while driving?

That depends on your antenna, installation, country and plan. Use only a suitable, securely mounted installation while travelling. Always check Starlink's current conditions; buying a mount does not give permission to use Starlink while driving.

Is the speed the same everywhere?

No. Your plan, network congestion, weather, obstructions and location affect speed and stability. We therefore do not promise a fixed speed at every campsite.

Do I still need 4G or 5G?

Starlink and mobile internet use different networks. A 4G/5G router can be a useful addition, for example in a location with many trees. Compare our internet solutions for travelling.
